JVC LT-42S90

JVC recently unveiled the super-slim full HD LCD TV LT-42S90, the world’s slimmest LCD TV with built-in tuner. This super-slim TV also weighs less and offers reduced power consumption.

The LCD TV features a cabinet that measures only 39mm in depth, with a maximum thickness of just 74mm at the panel’s centre.

Complementing the super-slim design is a thin 23mm bezel, which helps to further minimise the presence of the cabinet. It weighs less than 20kg (42" LCD) and consumes 183watts, one of the lowest in the industry standard today.

Utilising environmentally-friendly Eco Mode function to further reduce power consumption by approximately 30%, it automatically adjusts screen brightness according to ambient light of the room and also helps to decrease eye fatigue.

The LT-42S90 features a full HD LCD panel (1920 x 1080 pixels) and HD ready 1080p, which allows the viewers to enjoy high-definition video sources up to 1080p.

DynaPix HD Picture Engine is a powerful picture processor capable of processing and managing image as well as reducing noise in "real-time" to ensure vivid colours and rich contrast in all conditions irrespective of signal quality.

To heighten the audio impact of movies and sports programmes, the harmonic effect of MaxxBrass ensures natural and deep bass sound without distortion.

The LT-42S90 LCD TV is available in 42-inch size and retails at RM10,999.

PHILIPS LCD flat-screen TVs

PHILIPS Electronics is bringing the ultimate cinematic experience to the living room with its new range of LCD TVs.

These LCD flat-screen TVs come with a sophisticated design and best-in-class motion and sound technology to give viewers the sensory experience of literally being part of the action.

"Philips’ new range delivers the best possible viewing experience on large Full HD LCD TV screens," said Philips consumer lifestyle sales organisation leader Eddie Ong. "What truly makes our products stand out from the crowd is the best-in-class processing power combined with their unique design."

With the High Definition Natural Motion (HDNM) technology installed in its 5000, 7000 and 9000 series high-performance LCD TVs, they now have four times the processing power than the models installed with the original digital natural motion, which was developed back in 1989.

The HDNM enables precise calculation and repositioning of moving objects in the new frames it creates, resulting in an ultra smooth, judder-free motion.

Ong said that the technology is further advanced in the Perfect Natural Motion, which has 500-million-pixel-per-second processing power (two times more powerful than the HDNM), and is available only in the 9703 model.

The Perfect Natural Motion delivers multi-directional motion detection and compensation to allow for the smoothest motion in all direction even with very fast panning scenes, plus the cleanest motion without any halo effect around the moving object.

The new Philips Full HD 1080p LCD TVs also address motion blur inherent in LCD panels by incorporating an OverDrive Control in the panel to accelerate the speed of electron switching in the liquid crystals.

This results in pristine, clear, blur-free motion performance with a five-millisecond response time.

The addition of 100Hz ClearLCD technology greatly improves detail and sharpness, offering razor-sharp moving images with an ultra-fast motion response time of two milliseconds in the 9703.

"Consumers can look forward to an unparallelled experience for viewing sports or movie, thanks to the unique combination of exceptional picture quality, smooth motion and great sound at an attractive price," said Ong.

He added that in addition to superior motion performance, the Philips 5000, 7000 and 9000 series of high-performance LCD TVs come equipped with the Philips Pixel Plus HD and Perfect Pixel HD Engine.

These picture enhancement technologies perform superbly on the Full HD 1080p display to produce supreme picture quality with unmatched sharpness, natural detail and vivid colours.

The Perfect Pixel HD Engine, which is only available in the 9000 series, can process the best-in-class resolution of 500 million pixels per second.

The home cinematic experience is not complete without matching sound performance. This features audio specifications typically not found in most LCD TVs available today – including a built-in 30-watt RMS high-power digital amplifier on all of the models across the entire range and new acoustic chambers comparable to those found in hi speakers.

The 5000 and 9000 series LCD TVs are available in 42-inch, 47-inch and 52-inch models, while the 7000 series is available in only the 42-inch.

The price range for the 5000 series is from RM5,999 to RM10,999, while the 7000 series retails at RM7,999. The 9000 series is priced from RM12,999 to RM21,999.

Philips also launched its Ambisound-HTS8140 SoundBar DVD Home Theatre and the Philips GoGear digital audio/video player SA5245BT.

The home theatre system has integrated speakers, amplifiers and DVD player with soft dome tweeters and DoubleBass giving excellent sound quality. The HDMI 1080p also upscales to high definition for sharper pictures.

The GoGear features Philips’ patented FullSound technology to bring you superb audio quality. It is equipped with Bluetooth technology to ensure the ultimate wireless entertainment on the go.

You can experience music and video at anytime, anyplace on the 7.11cm (2.8in) QVGA LCD colour display and enjoy the MP3, WMA and AAC music plus FM radio as well as the SuperScroll, which enables you to find what you want in a fast, simple way.

The DVD Home Theatre System and GoGear SA5245BT are priced at RM2,799 and RM579 respectively.

Packed with innovative technologies and features, the systems are specially designed as an advanced integrated gadget for young adults of the digital age.

"Malaysia is one of the first markets in the world to experience Pioneer’s latest range of home entertainment systems, with better sound quality than ever before," Pioneer Technology (M) Sdn Bhd deputy general manager Raymond Lee said.

"We firmly believe that in this digital age where more people are technologically savvy and fashion-conscious, the way forward is to constantly improve the sound quality and exterior design of our systems.

"Today’s young, digital generation have very varied entertainment needs as a result of their unlimited access to various forms of digital equipment. Pioneer’s range of home entertainment products ensure that there is a product to suit everyone," he added.

Some of these features include multi-channel acoustic calibration system (MCACC), front stage surround advance, sound retrievers, down-firing subwoofers, dual centre speakers and a new foam rubber edge.

MCACC creates the ideal acoustic environment for ultimate listening pleasure in any room with microphone provided. The self-calibration feature detects and fine-tunes each speaker in the room to compensate for uneven speaker distance, and provides well-distributed and better sound quality on the whole.

The front stage surround advance makes the setup of the system less dependent on the room environment, and the speakers can be conveniently aligned to suit the look and feel of your room, without cumbersome wiring running through to the back of the room.

The stylish down-firing subwoofer efficiently disperses sound with little distortion, filling the room with a rich, deep bass, thus adding to the ambience.

Some advanced functions of the system are HDMI, USB compatibility, DivX video playback and full-feature karaoke (in all models except the HTZ777 DVD and HTZ373 DVD).

HDMI allows the customer to enjoy all-digital superior images with no loss in signal processing. The system also doubles up as a karaoke system within the customer’s own home, thanks to dual mic inputs with volume control, key control and echo.
